Mission Accomplished: Your Favourite Underthings Now With Extended Sizing

Mission Accomplished: Your Favourite Underthings Now With Extended Sizing

Since launching Soft Focus, it's been our goal to create a collection + platform for women to feel at ease in. And it's a feeling we truly want all women to be a part of.

When we debuted our first collection for the holidays of 2017, we offered one-size in everything – a roomy Medium that fit me [Sammi, the designer + founder], and we hoped would also fit lots of women. It proved to be a good way of learning that we'd need to add more sizes ASAP!

To date, we've manufactured our garments in Toronto + Montreal, in very small runs. When we first launched, we offered one-size for every piece in our collection, then small, medium, large for the next – it felt like a good place to start but we still weren't satisfied.

Now, two years in, we're excited to be offering an extended size range from XS to 3X in our Cropped Cami + High Waist Brief. Launching as part of The Garment's Undergarments Virtual Pop-Up, both items in Milk + Black are available for pre-order Nov 5-10th. You can shop the event here :)

So, how did we make this happen?

When we began talks with The Garment last summer, the conversation of wanting to offer extended sizing at Soft Focus immediately came up + it felt like the right time to go for it.

First things first, we begged our sample maker to squeeze us into her production schedule so we could have samples ready in time for The Garment photoshoot. Then we researched well-loved, inclusive brands like Universal Standard + Elizabeth Suzanne, borrowing tips for how to grade + size the line. What's grading? It's  is the pattern making process of taking your base sample size + increasing or de-creasing key measurement points to create new sizes.

We consulted with a fit expert to refine our patterns. Then we sampled each new size + held a fitting (with the help of The Garment community + the Bunz Plus Size forum) to try the samples on a group of women ranging from XL to 3X. Patterns were refined again, sampled again + then sent off to Alberta for The Garment to use in their community model shoot.

All this is to say, we're really proud to be a part of The Garment community + their latest Virtual Pop-Up. And we're thrilled to be bringing our casual style + passion for comfort to a wider audience of women. This pop-up pre-sale will be our first foray into plus size, and we hope it's something we can continue to share in each new collection we create.

So tell your mom, tell your friends, tell that girl on the bus next to you – the Virtual Pop-Up is on until November 10th! You can shop the Cami + Brief from sizes XS-3X + get 10% off your order using code GARMENT10 at check out.

Thanks for being a part of the journey + Happy Shopping!

Fitting new styles + sizes on real women is so important! We are so grateful to the folks who volunteered their time to help us fit our first set of samples.
