Everyone loves a good neighbourhood spot. That casual + inspiring destination you make your way to meanderingly after Sunday brunch, before your second coffee, in between visiting your local market to grab a few fresh things for dinner. Ardith is a favourite in that way. And it's perfectly situated on one of the most pleasant streets in Toronto to while away an afternoon – Roncesvalles Ave.
Step through Ardith's substantial front door and you kind of feel like you're walking into your coolest friend's home. Filled with leisurely chic clothes (now including Soft Focus lounge sets + tees), accessories and select vintage treasures, the vibe is casual, natural and warm. The assortment of crystals probably help with that...a hippy underbelly with a designer veneer.
Ardith's new owner, Vanessa Vanderbergh, is a delight + it has to be said, is a total babe. Everything that she brings into the shop is meaningful to her. She has to love it + it has to feel just right. My favourite thing she told me is that she'll sometime pre-wash pieces before putting them out so that they have an already soft, natural, worn feel. Nothing too crisp – everything should feel at ease.
While your perusing a lounge set or two, you can also check out some of our fave artisan wares like jewelry from Modern Weaving, apothecary from Binu Binu + Living Libations, and babouches + blankets sourced from Morocco.
Then make your way to that second coffee (or iced tea) up the street at Reunion Island. You won't regret it ;)
